Intona-Record [Hits: 5623]  Discuss on forum [0]

The history of Intona-Record is shrouded with mystery. According to the official paper of Gramophone Co. about copyright infringements [1], Intona-Record was the predecessor of the famous Syrena-Record company one of the biggest legal Russian labels. This standpoint for many years prevailed among Russian researchers. However, the Western researchers, for instance the author of Syrena RecordPolands first recording company[2] book Tomasz Lerski, reckoned that the predecessor of Syrena-Record was Ideal Company. His conclusion was based on the information acquired from the descendants [2] of the founder of Syrena-Record Company Julius Feigenbaum. The reconciliation of two seemingly incompatible positions became possible after discovering the first actual Intona-Record record. Its instantly became obvious that Intona-Record was nothing else, but one of the Labels of Ideal Company the trademark of the later one is located on the label just under its name! Yet, the background of this Ideal is still unknown. It looks like there were several independent companies with this name. As reference mark the year of Intona-Record creation can be used that according to Tomasz Lerski [2] was 1904. Its interesting that according to Alexander Tikhonov [3], the Intona-Record catalog consisted of 302 records, 266 of those were pirated from the Gramophone Co..
