Likely it is private cylinder by Jules Devoyode (1842-1901). Been found together with others (second cylinder contain an baritone aria 'Lorsqu'a de folles amours' from the 'La Traviata'), and two cabinet photos by Jules Devoyode with his autographes.
Plain box similar early 'Pathe' products, contain unnumbered brown wax cylinder. Aria 'Connais-tu le Pays' originally composed for Mezzo-Soprano, but by a strange whim of the singer transposed it down to Baritone voice.
Title is announced in French: 'Romance de Mignon', the aria sung in French by a very aged baritone voice with piano accompanied. Applauses and shouts in Russian (From 02:13 to 02:17). |
