A short-lived French company that existed in late 1928 - early 1929 at 6, rue Cavalotti, Paris (C.V.). The founder was Mathieu de Wrangel, presumably a relative of Baron Pyotr Nikolaevich Wrangel. Owner : Leon Speiser, record seller since creation of a bookshop by his father Wolf Speiser (from Odessa) around 1900 at the 34, rue des Rosiers in Paris. Created label around 1950 and runned it until his death in 1978. Sarah Gorby made many Russian and Roumanian records for the label, and he re-issued Aprelevsky Zavod Jewish recordings (piratic ?). Pathé was founded by brothers Charles & Émile Pathé, who were owners of a successful bistro in Paris. About 1890 they saw an Edison phonograph demonstrated at a fair and, captivated by the device, arranged to lease one as an attraction at their bistro.
