Recording Date should be corrected here. This is not 1903. You can also see here https://www.russian-records.com/data/media/92/Grammofonnij_Mir_1910-08.pdf that this recording was released in 1910. It may be recorded few years prior to release, but it is not 1903.

Why not? According to Alan Kelly, matrix numbers from 1153C to 1381C were recorded in St. Petersburg by F Hampe in 1903:

Update: "In January/February 1903 Darby visited Constantinople with Franz Hampe. They made 7” and 10” recordings which were allocated to Hampe’s C and L series." Source

Thank you Yuri for finding interesting details. I guess this is quite puzzling. Mr. Vavich started his acting career only in 1905. Then he slowly rose to fame in 1906, and then also his recording activities were started. I can not explain how he could possibly make this recording in 1903.
